Workshop guidelines

Workshops will be sessions focusing on the practical aspects and application of the main congress theme, Perinatal TOTAL Health: The First Thousand Days of Life - Innovations and Transdisciplinary Collaborations.

Workshop proposals may only be submitted exclusively online via the Congress website, using the online form which is available HERE.

Workshops are a 90-minute format, 4 speakers maximum (excluding the chairmen).
Logistics such as room allocation and audiovisual arrangements (for PowerPoint presentation) will be handled by the Congress Organizers.

Workshop requirements

Proposals to organize a workshop should include the following information:

  • Workshop title. The title should be brief (100 characters maximum) and objectively describe the session
  • Full contact details of the submitter and the proposed speakers and co-chairpersons
  • Overall abstract (maximum 300 words, with 2 scientific references)
Proposing speakers & chairmen

There should be maximum 4 speakers and 2 co-chairpersons proposed in each workshop. The decisions of the Scientific Programme Committee are final.

There should preferably not be more than one speaker/chairman per country, and in any case, not more than one speaker per institute.

The proposed speakers and chairmen should have been formally approached by the submitter and have committed to attend and present at the congress should the workshop be selected in the program.

The Scientific Committee reserves the right to reject proposals for workshops that are not considered suitable.

Please note all speakers and chairmen accepted for workshop presentation must register for the congress and pay the registration fee before 10 February 2018 in order to confirm their presentation. Failure to do this could result in losing their presentation slot.

Submission rules

Proposals must be submitted on or before the closing date, 31 January 2018.

Please ensure that your abstract does not contain spelling, grammatical or scientific errors.

Please note that submitters can go back and make changes to a submitted abstract at any time up to the deadline. 

No corrections are possible after the submission deadline. The abstract will be reproduced exactly as submitted. No proofreading will be done.

The submitter and all presenters must accept full responsibility for the content, submission, and presentation of their abstract, and retain full copyright of their abstract and presentation. By submitting a workshop proposal, authors give consent and authorize the Organizers to publish or submit for publication their abstract, presentation, picture and biography, and to include them in any congress publications.

Abbreviations should be kept to a minimum. Use standard abbreviations generic drug names. Place unusual abbreviations or acronyms in parentheses after first use. 

Do NOT identify author(s) or institution(s) in text.

Submissions must be made in plain text format (no tables, graphs, charts or images are permitted). 
The correct topic must be selected to ensure correct scoring. The content of the abstract must be topic related. It is the responsibility of the submitter to ensure that abstracts are submitted under the correct topic, relevant for the content of the abstract.

Submitters are requested to indicate their preference for workshop format on the abstract submission form. The decisions of the Scientific Programme Committee are final.

All accepted workshops will be included in the Final Program Brochure, as well as in the Abstracts CD.

The Organizers reserve the right to reject any proposal for failure to comply with submission instructions mentioned on the Congress website. Please note that late submissions will not be considered.


All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence their work.

Please fill in the Conflict of Interest Disclosure Form available for download below, sign it and send it to the Congress Secretariat at abstracts@perinatal2018international.org by 12 February 2018 the latest.
